The Taste Of Asheville, NC: Doc Chey's Noodle House

Hey readers!

Anthony and I are teaming up together to bring you a review of our dinning experiences in Asheville North Carolina! So every other week, we will be reviewing a different restaurant for all of you. If you have a place that you want us to check out and review leave your comment bellow!

This week we're reviewing :
 Doc Chey's Noodle House

At first glance, the restaurant is really small. There are only two one stall bathrooms at the main entrance, so if you have to use the bathroom you're going to have to wait in line. The bathrooms are located at the waiting area which is a very narrow and cramped hallway when you first enter the restaurant. Half the time I was confused by who was in line for the bathroom and who was in line to get seated.

The hostess greeted us and she was very sweet however, we did have to wait roughly about 10-15 minutes to be seated at a table, which wasn't that big of a deal for us. We came a little after 3 o'clock on a Sunday and it was still pretty busy. The seating area is really cramped though, I felt like everyone was sitting on top of each other while they were eating and you could hear all the conversations of everyone sitting around you. So it was a combination of hearing people slurping their food and talking. There was hardly any room to walk around the tables, people and waitresses. I had to get up a few times with the baby even while wearing him and carrying the diaper bag and it was just a really cramped and uncomfortable situation. So if your claustrophobic like I am, keep that in mind. I wish they offered outside dinning to ease the stress of the overcrowding.

The food however, is really good! I ordered the gluten free Beef Pad Thai noodle bowl and Mr. Fresh Heart ordered the gluten free Chicken Pad Thai and both dishes were very delicious, flavorful and filled our bellies. The price is pretty affordable for those of you who are on a budget and you defiantly getting a rather large portion serving wise. They served us two pretty large bowls and they were filled to the very top. I do feel like two people could easily split one bowl together. Our waitress was very on top of things and always refilling our glasses with water even when they were hardly half way empty. So the service in that aspect was very good.

So what do we rate this restaurant?

If you can get over the cramped quarters, it's defiantly a good restaurant to try. The food is really good and the hospitality and friendliness of the staff is great (which totally makes up for how over crowded it is).  We give this place a 3.5 handle bar mustache rating.
