Create The Look: Modcloth Slice Of Summer Swing Dress.

Hi friends, happy Sunday and welcome back to the blog! Every Sunday I will bring you ideas on how to recreate some of my favorite Modcloth looks.

This week we are going to recreate this fun little number, Slice of Summer Swing Dress. This fun dress has cute button detailing on the front bodice and a swing skirt with hidden pockets. I love how cute the apple patterned fabric is too!

When it comes to details, I am obsessed. I love the button detail on the front so for me, I want that detailing to go all the way down the dress. So I chose the McCall's pattern, M8177, it is pretty close to the Modcloth dress. If you don't want the button detailing to go all the way down the dress, I'm sure you could redesign this by creating the bodice and attaching it to a swing dress pattern with an elastic casing.

I found some really cute apple patterned cotton fabric on Etsy. The first one is the Heather Ross 20th anniversary apple print in cotton.

The second print is from this Etsy Shop and it's the Ruby Star Society in Caramel Apple in cotton.

But then I found this orange patterned fabric that would be super cute as well.

This is Fruit Market and you can choose which fabric you'd like to work with. Cotton Poplin and stretch are both options to work with.

Honestly it's up to you on what print to work with. Depending on which fabric you choose, the size you need, and the buttons you decide to go with, you're total cost for materials is roughly around $25 to $30 dollars versus purchasing the actual dress for $99 plus shipping which comes to a total of $106.99

Did you recreate this look? If so, let me know and send me a link to your website.

Happy sewing!
